In this three videotape series, Americas top coaches introduce the fundamental skills and techniques used in each track and field event. Produced in conjunction with The Athletics Congress now U.S. Track and Field, the Coaching by the Experts series covers running events, jumping events, and throwing events on separate videotapes. With the help of slow motion and stop action photography, all three videos • show athletes how to perform the specific skills and use the correct technique for each event, • point out common mistakes in each event, and • provide drills to correct these mistakes. Featuring instruction from Tom Tellez, head track coach at the University of Houston, this 40 minute video covers the long jump, triple jump, high jump, and pole vault. For each event the video shows how to correctly perform the approach, penultimate stride, last stride, take off, and flight landing. The video also demonstrates how to combine all of these components into effective jumps. The pole vault segment provides additional information on selecting the right pole.
